The Magic of Ponies

Let me share with you a pretty interesting animated series that me and my friends are into lately. It’s a flash-style animated cartoon from Hasbro called My Little Pony: friendship is Magic.

My little Pony: Friendship is Magic

The show is the 4th gen. reincarnation of the classic cartoon, my little Pony. most of the main characters’ names, appearance, and personalities resemble ponies from previous My Little Pony franchises.

It’s main protagonist is a unicorn named Twilight Sparkle who was sent to Ponyville by her royal highness, Princess Celestia, a winged unicorn who rules over the realm Equestria.

(L-R) Princess Celestia, & Twilight Sparkle.

Twi eventually makes friends with four other ponies. They are Pinkie Pie, a manic, hot pink earth pony sporting bubblegum pink mane & tail who likes parties and surprises; Rarity, a glamorous ivory unicorn with purple mane & tail. She is the “fashionista” in the posse; rainbow Dash, the daredevil. A cyan pegasus with rainbow mane & tail; Applejack, a peach earth pony with blonde main & tail who is tough and also a farm girl; and Fluttershy, a lemon yellow pegasus with light pink mane & tail. She’s timid & shy, and is also a nature-lover.

Friendship is magic!

Throughout the whole first season, every episode revolved around Twi’s task regarding the magic of friendship as assigned to her by Princess Celestia herself. She also wrapped up every episode with learnings & realizations that were reported to Princess Celestia via Spike, a talking baby dragon who can magically send Twi’s letters by burning them with green ember that he breathes out from his mouth.

With regards to the “feel” or the mood of the show, it’s quite similar to the Powerpuff Girls. Every scene also bleeds your screen with vibrant & loud colors that are very pleasing to the eyes. Though, there are just too many ponies to handle in this show. I mean, they seem to have a pony representative for everything that exists in the real world (with the exception of gritty and ugly things of course.)

Overall, the show is fantastic. I’m giving it 5 stars out of 5 for trying to revive the old cartoon format where the theme’s about good prevailing over evil and I love ponies so my Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a must-watch for everypony.
